Whether these goals are for your personal-development, life path, business, or family goals, setting your mindset for success is key.

Without a proper mindset, you may find yourself getting easily distracted and even worse, waking up to a life that you never wanted.

If this is you today, then you may have already decided it is too late for you to reach these goals.

But, will you feel the same way in 5 or 10 years too?

We always wish for things yesterday and don’t take a true inventory of what effort we have put in so far to get to here.

Make the decision today to take advantage of what you can achieve today. Strive for what you truly desire.

Before you know it, you will be looking back 5 years and those accumulated actions will find yourself closer to achieving those goals you REALLY wanted!

Follow the path you want through to the end with these 20 tricks that will set your mind up for success.

If you set your mindset for success, you will reach your goals more quickly and will then find yourself with the opportunity to create new, and possibly even bigger, goals.

Make Better Decisions

  1. Start making executive decisions — you are the Creator of your own life, so take charge and make decisions as if your life depended on those decisions.
  2. Apply mental filters.
  3. Think through decisions. For example, “if this, then that” scenario in your mind.  See the consequences of each decision.
  4. Consider potential disasters if plan doesn’t work out.
  5. Keep your end goal or vision in mind. Do the choices you make daily fit with your goal or take you away from the direction?
  6. Distance your emotions if there is a strong emotional charge about it within you. Chances are there is a belief in you from past experiences that has not been acknowledged. Come back to make the decision when you can be a bit more objective.
  7. Learn from your failures by asking yourself what you learned from the process and what can aid you even better now to moving forward?
  8. Control the negative talk in your mind.
  9. Know your strengths and weaknesses.
  10. Ask for feedback and be able to process both positive and negative feedback constructively.
  11. Learn how to “correct yourself” when you find yourself going too far or steering off your goal.
  12. Develop core habits that will help you reach your goal.
  13. Be results-focused.
  14. When you experience a setback, don’t dwell on it. After doing an assessment, move on to incorporating the necessary correction. Then Stick to the course for the greater learning throughout the process itself.

Making decisions is a huge key to success. These decisions need to be made consciously every day, and they either take us closer or farther away from our goals. Do you know how your decisions have effected your goals so far? Spend a few minutes thinking about the last few decisions you’ve made and decide whether they are in line with your goals or taking you farther away from them.

Develop Positive Habit Change

  1. Create systems to keep yourself on track with your new priorities.
  2. Take a small action step toward each of your goals daily.
  3. Capture all of the information that could help you. Collect your research and inspired actions for later reference.
  4. Create the to-do list for the next day the night before, or even better before the week starts.
  5. Prioritize your to do list. Maximum 3 projects at a time until completion.
  6. Tackle the biggest projects or the most dreaded task first, as everything else will feel easy after and it will fill you with a greater feeling of accomplishment.

Fo any successful habit change to occur, implement one or more of the above habits for over 21 days, it will become much easier and a part of your routine. At that time, you can add in another mindset for success. Most people do better implementing them in chunks so they avoid overwhelm and doom themselves to failure before even really giving it a chance.

What’s Your Story?

Can Storytelling Give you an Edge in Your Business and Career?

After 17+ years as a Business Strategist, Sales and Marketing Expert I know today more than any other time in business history, the WORLD is LISTENING.  Questions is, are they listening to you and your message?

Your story is your personal brand.

Have you discovered it and how are you sharing it?

Is it aligned with who you truly are?

Last week, I attended an event in Hamilton called Tweetstock: Those Who Tell Stories Rule The World and I learned more nuggets about the art of telling our stories in today’s technological times.

What all speakers shared on stage was the VALUE of everyone’s story. Whether you are a business owner or an employee, what sets you apart are the things you stand for, the problems you want to solve and the result of what happened in finding the solution are part of your unique marketing message. What You Think, You Become

I am sure you have heard of quotes like this all your life.

The difference now is we have science to back up how we manifest things in our life and scientist, Carol Dwek, is just one example to mention.

People are starting to see that the thoughts they hold in their heads are stopping them from achieving their personal best.  These thoughts either bring you closer to what you want to manifest or further away from what you want to manifest.

Change Begins With You

Change begins with you.  If you want to change your life, you must tweak a few things in order to get different results. If you are unhappy with your current circumstances, you must change.

If you choose to keep going, everyday the cost will get higher and HIGHER.  It will always show up somewhere in some shape or form.  It is likely to bleed into every part of your life- even the good parts that are working!

What is something that you want to change in your life? Maybe it’s a job, your negative thinking, a relationship, lack of money, dealing with your children, saving for retirement, whatever it is, pick one.  Now write a list of all the reasons, the excuses that are stopping you from reaching your goal and changing the situation. Write as many as you can think of.

I am willing to go on the limb here and say if you look at your list, there would be one specific thing missing. Continue reading “Change Begins With You”

Power of Personal Responsibility

As someone who has trained flourishing entrepreneurs and professionals across the globe, it is fascinating to me what people aspire to do when motivated and when they truly accept their own personal responsibility.th

They have a presence of magic discovered in each step they take and their life just blossoms.

Not only do they increase their own confidence with each responsibility taken but they are connected more with a sense of truth of what life is supposed to be for themselves.  They fully witness and connect to their authentic nature which they may have buried beneath other people’s needs.     Continue reading “Power of Personal Responsibility”

Build Your Success By Saying ‘No’

“If you want to be successful, this is an invitation to say ‘no’ to the things that don’t really matter, so you have the time, the energy, motivation, and passion to say ‘yes’ to the things you care about.”

As Jack Canfield, co-author of Chicken Soup for the Soul, has used the phrase “If you want to be successful, you will have to learn how to say ‘no’ to the good so you can say ‘yes’ to the great.  This statement is so powerful and when I share it with clients, they see how many times they say ‘yes’ to things that might not be empowering them.

Saying ‘no’ can be uncomfortable; we want to please people, we don’t want to be alone, we don’t want to let others down, or perhaps we fear that people will not like us if we start saying ‘no.’

The truth is the word ‘no’ triggers all sorts of emotions within us all.  We recall being denied as a child or the rejection that came due to a request.  Forget to mention the ramifications that we are left with processing another’s change in character toward us.   The word ‘no’ is something that the wealthiest, most successful people on the planet use everyday, and if we want to be successful, then saying ‘no’ must become a part of our regular vocabulary. Saying ‘no’ is not personal, it is merely a matter of a quick assessment – will saying ‘yes’ to this get me closer to my goal?  If not, the answer is ‘no.’
